Joining Foam Without Added Weight
CA, UHU Por, and double-sided tape each have their place. This guide maps the right adhesive to the right joint for lightest possible builds.
Quick reference
| Joint | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Skin to spar | Foam-safe CA + accelerator | Wicks into the seam; near-zero added weight |
| Skin lap (long seams) | UHU Por | Slow tack, lets you align; very strong when cured |
| Tail surfaces to fuselage | Foam-safe CA | Clean, no squeeze-out |
| Servo to fuselage | Double-sided tape | Lets you reposition; survives crashes |
| Anything to carbon | Foam-safe CA | The only thing that bonds both reliably |
A weight-saving habit
Apply glue to the smaller piece, not the larger. Less wasted area, less wasted glue.
